BoroGuide was originally born out of frustration in the
pre-season of 2002. When we say frustration, we mean it in that before then, there was no
real alternative Stevenage website to rival the Official Site. But
hopefully, with BoroGuide, we have a formula that will succeed where others have failed in
the past. Not by doing anything elaborate and spectacular, but simply providing the information and features that Boro' fans could ever wish for in a website. That is why we believe we are the Stevenage Internet Resource. How good we are is entirely up to you.
A partnership formed between the webmasters after a message on the Stevenage
E-Group, and here we are now - in the midst of the fruits of our labour since
mid-June 2002. We've seen a few managers come and go, we've seen far more players move in and out too. But we've aimed to remain constant, like the unconditional love a dog gives his master, or a supporter gives his team.
In the summer of 2006, due to increasing time restrictions on both editors, the decision
was made to discontinue the match report and continuous statistics service. The decision
was made after realising that failing to keep up to date with recent matches and
developments does not look favourably upon us as a website. As a result, BoroGuide will
focus on providing a more comprehensive version of existing features such as club and
player profiles.
The site is primarily run by the
smallest of editorial teams, but major credit should also be afforded to Ken Jude
who has provided support for some of the stat-generating software and offered directional
guidance, Stuart Govier, Paulio and Mark Edwards for assistance with player research, and also to
Steve Watkins who kindly provides the post-match inteviews we've been featuring since
March 2004 as well as some images. Further images have also been supplied by Kevin Coleman
as well as NTM, plus a significant amount of Boro'-related data from Dave Paul helping to
support the archive portions of the site. And thanks also to Russell Whiskin for help with
some of the coding issues.
We hope that despite recent changes, BoroGuide continues to remain a wealth of invaluable
information to the Boro' supporters, as well as opposition fans visiting Stevenage.
