Biography
John Downes was one of Boro’s original few; signed in 1979 as the club took the step up to senior football for the first time. The defender would continue to ply his trade for us into the 1980-1 season when we found a home in the United Counties League too. Midway through that campaign, however, he departed Broadhall Way.
