Andy Lomas was signed by Stevenage Borough at the start of September 1994, arriving from Diadora League Premier Division side Chesham United. He arrived at a time when results weren't going Boro's way in the GM Vauxhall Conference - but, with his helped, form soon picked up.

The goalkeeper also had spells with Barnet and Hartlepool United prior to his arrival at Broadhall Way, but he only went on to feature in 16 games at Boro' after the return of Des Gallagher displaced him from the first team. With no route back in to the team, he moved to Rushden and Diamonds on deadline day in 1995 for a five-figure fee.

One thing you might not have known about Lomas, however, is his record-breaking credentials. It was reported back at the time he was a Guinness world record holder after saving eight penalties on the bounce for Chesham against Hendon, Woking and Harrow in 1991-2, then Harrow, Berkhamsted, Enfield, Marlow and VS Rugby in 1992-3.
