Having successfully claimed the right-back position from Simon Travis, Michael Warner featured heavily in the run-in that saw Boro' reach the 2004/5 playoff final. In fact, Warner so nearly forced Carlisle into extra time, after a barraging run into the box only to be denied by the goalkeeper.

The 2005/6 season saw Warner feature as prominently, making over thirty starts over the course of the season. However, failure to make the playoffs led to a cull of players, and Warner was one of many players to leave Broadhall Way, agonisingly enough just a handful of starts away from what would have been his ton.

Ever reliable, Warner was a steady performer at right back, although evidently not what Boro' need to top their playoff performance of 2005.
