Robert Duffy arrived in 2006 to bolster Graham Westley's striking options, but found himself unable to break into the first team. A handful of games were spent sat on the bench in the vain hope of seeing some action. He finally made his debut in the last game of the 2005/6 season.

Duffy arrived at the club having played a few times at both Gainsborough Trinity and Kettering Town. A spell at Cambridge United followed a loan stint with Stamford, where he scored twice in two games. But Duffy found himself unable to replicate his goalscoring form.

Given his failure to appear at a time when Boro' needed goals to try and force entry into the playoff berth - and because Jefferson Louis was preferred at the time - it seemed inevitable he would move on. That he did, to Oxford United, where his fortune took a turn for the better.

After a decent couple of years at the Kassam Stadium, the Swansea-born striker fell out of favour and moved to Wrexham on loan. Newport County in his native Wales was the next port of call, before a couple of years at Mansfield Town restored his goalscoring prowess.
