A highly-rated winger who joined Stevenage Borough in January 2007 from Championship side, Southend United, Mitchell Cole formerly played under Mark Stimson at Grays Athletic. The player arrived at the club with a reputation for speedy and agile play that provided a powerful extra attacking dimension.

He was a key part of Boro's transformation during the 2007 FA Trophy final when the Hertfordshire side overturned a 2-0 half-time deficit to win the title - Cole scored the first of the three Stevenage goals that day.

As a nimble and speedy winger, Cole was no stranger to injuries and knocks caused - more often than not - by desperate defending by his opponents. He found game time restricted during the 2007-8 season as a consequence, but still found plenty of opportunity to terrorise defences and offer a dynamic part of the Boro' front line that produced goods when least expected.

Again, injury kept Cole out more than desired during Boro's promotion campaign, but he certainly played his part on more than one occasion; a quick-fire hattrick against Eastbourne Borough was one stand-out moment from Cole's contribution to Boro's successful march on the Blue Square Premier title during the 2009/10 season.

It was to be Cole's last season with Boro', with a move to Oxford United made in summer 2010. But it was with regret in February 2011 that his new club confirmed the player had been forced to quit the game due to a pre-existing heart condition. It was a promising professional career that was sadly and prematurely halted with the player aged just 25.

Stats do not include expunged Chester City fixtures in 2009/10.
