Mick Adamson

Mick Adamson signed for Stevenage Borough for the 1983-4 season aged 20, but that didn't mean he was inexperienced. Quite the opposite in fact; the stopper gaining experience while on the books at both Arsenal and Watford.

The impact Adamson had on the club was immediate, picking up both Players' Player and Player of the Year in his debut season. Indeed, a bright future may well have lay ahead of him was it not for a couple of lengthy injury absences.

One particular incident saw him sidelined for a significant chunk of the 1984-5 campaign with a broken shin bone. It prompted a show of support from Boro' fans, who duly raised £200 in a benefit disco held at the clubhouse for Adamson.

It seemed to check a promising career and Adamson left the club at the end of the 1984-5 season. It wasn't to be the end of his time at Broadhall Way, however - he was drafted back to the Boro' ranks in 1987, before moving on again to Royston.
