Miguel Comminges was one of Gary Smith‘s acquisitions in summer 2012, having played under the Boro’ boss at Colorado Rapids in the USA. Born in Guadeloupe, the defender left the French-administered nation aged 15-years-old; moving to France to embark on his footballing career. Amiens SC was his first port of call, before spending four years at Reims.
English football beckoned in 2007, with Comminges joining Swindon Town and later Cardiff City. The Welsh club gave him a home for three years, with other clubs including Carlisle United and Southend United. It was after his time at Southend that Comminges returned back across the Atlantic to Colorado Rapids. It was a short stay, however; not returning to the club for the 2012 season and giving him the chance to link back up with Smith here.
