Roarie Deacon's footballing career started under the knowing gaze of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, playing regularly for the youth side before turning professional in 2010.

It probably comes as little surprise to learn that chances at the Emirates were hard to come by, something that prompted his move to Sunderland in 2011 - but again, he failed to crack the first team at the Black Cats and had only reserve and youth appearances to call on.

After he was allowed to leave the Stadium of Light, Deacon was to pop up at the Lamex after being signed by manager Graham Westley. In Deacon, Westley found a player with pace and who performed best on the left hand side.

Even when he was called upon to play a defensive role, Deacon performed well but he never really seemed to hold down a first team place.

Boro' opted to release Deacon from the club in summer 2015, with the feeling that another League Two club could get themselves a hugely versatile lad moving forward.
