Tom Flanagan was the young defender who joined Graham Westley's Stevenage on loan from fellow League One side MK Dons in March 2014, with the Hertfordshire club battling hard to avoid relegation and to retain their status in the third tier of English football.

While the loan agreement boosted Boro's defensive ranks, it also gave the Northern Ireland U21 international the chance to grab some first team experience after opportunities had become somewhat limited at Stadium:MK during the 2013/4 season.

That's not to say that Flanagan was out of the thoughts of Dons boss Karl Robinson. The defender had been awarded a one-year contract extension, so he was very much being considered for the future at the Buckinghamshire club - even if the short term brought him to the Lamex.

In addition to Boro', Flanagan had loan spells at Barnet, Gillingham and Kettering Town after turning pro at MK Dons in 2010.
