Place of Birth: Warrington

Looking to rebuild the squad after relegation from League One in 2014, a trio of additions kicked things off; Harry Worley being one of them. With League Two side Newport County releasing him, the switch here gave the relatively young defender a stage on which to prove his former club wrong. His time at Boro’ proved to be an unhappy one, however. A serious injury sustained early on in the season at Southend United kept him on the sidelines up until the final day of the season.

And there were to be no further appearances after that; the club opting to release Worley from his contract.

Harry Worley: Before Boro’

A native of Cheshire, Worley ended up at Chelsea as a youth player after joining from first club Stockport County. Fierce competition for places in the team at Chelsea made it little shock that he found himself loaned out to a handful of Football League clubs to gain some first team action; Doncaster Rovers, Carlisle United and Leicester City being those clubs. The Foxes actually took him on in a permanent transfer in 2008 and he remained there for two years. But, once again, he found himself out on loan.

Luton Town and Crewe Alexandra were the clubs he played for briefly during that time; eventually leaving Leicester after two years for Oxford United and picking up a League One winners’ medal in the process. The Us were to be Worley’s home for three seasons, before heading across the Welsh border to Newport; the Exiles making preparations for their first season in League Two.
