Charlie Lee was unveiled as one of the many summer signings made by Graham Westley in 2014. It also gave the player a chance to reunite with Chris Whelpdale, someone with whom he'd shared much of his career.

After starting his career with Tottenham Hotspur in 2003, chances to get first team football at the Lane were unsurprisingly limited. He made the subs bench for a UEFA Cup match, but that was as good as it got.

In search of regular football, Lee moved to Peterborough United in 2007 and went onto spend four years at London Road - racking up more than 100 appearances with ease and being named Player of the Year in 2008.

The time came to move on in 2011, with Gillingham beckoning. He had already had a loan spell at the Gills but made it permanent in an arrangement that was to keep him at Priestfield for three years.

With plenty of match time at the club and a League One championship to boot in 2013, he was released at the end of the 2013-4 campaign. Stevenage saw him as a player capable of helping the club return to good times and got their man as the new season neared.

Lee was energetic, industrious and creative throughout his stay at the Lamex. It was a stay that came to an end, however, in May 2017 as Boro' opted to release the midfielder.
