A combative and tenacious young midfielder, Dale Gorman signed for Stevenage in 2013. He arrived at the Lamex on a scholarship, but soon started to attract the attention of Boro's first-team staff. It was during the 2015-6 season, however, that most progress was made; Gorman breaking into the first team. Since then, he has consolidated his position in the squad.

Gorman's football career started in Ireland with his hometown club, Letterkenny Rovers. After progressing through the youth ranks, he caught Boro's eye during a Northern Ireland U17 match. It took just one trial match for the Academy for the club to decide he was worth offering a two-year scholarship. And in his first two years at the Lamex, he played for the U18s and Reserve side; occasionally training with the first team too.

Away from Boro', Gorman made six caps at U17 level for Northern Ireland up until March 2013. He stepped up to the U19 squad and was selected for the U21 squad shortly after his pro debut for Boro'. It was to be a forgettable debut at this level, however. Northern Ireland lost 2-1 to Scotland, and Gorman was dismissed.

Now very much part of the Boro' squad, Gorman signed an extended contract in January 2017 to keep him at the Lamex until 2019. With plenty of time on his side (still only 21 at the start of the 2017-8 League Two campaign), he won't be short of opportunities to continue his growth. Only time will tell if he can establish himself as one of the great Boro' midfielders, but his desire and development to date can only be positive signs.
