Fresh from his release from Doncaster Rovers after a three-year stay at the Keepmoat Stadium, defender Jamie McComb was added to Teddy Sheringham's Boro' ranks ahead of the 2015-6 League Two season with a day to spare!

The experienced centre-half began his career at Frickley Athletic, before heading off to Scunthorpe United as a trainee. During his third year of his traineeship, he made his Irons debut and even nabbed a goal to boot against Darlington.

In early 2004, McComb agreed to make the switch to Lincoln and it appeared as if Scunthorpe had allowed the transfer. But it had to go to tribunal before the defender could turn out for the Imps; something he eventually was able to in March.

Two years later and he was on the move again, moving to Bristol City and making his debut, ironically, against Scunthorpe. He went on to make more than 100 outings at Ashton Gate, winning promotion to the Championship in his first season.

Steve Coppell ended his time at Bristol City, however, in 2010. It allowed McComb to move to Huddersfield Town, a team at which his brother John had previously turned out. He also spent some time on loan at Preston before Donny came calling in 2012.

It was reported that McComb had trialled at Bradford City during the close season in 2015, but no deal was forthcoming - letting Boro' steal in and secure his services. And with all that experience to offer, it seemed like a shrewd move to do so as well.
