With Stevenage struggling for points and goals in autumn 2015, manager Teddy Sheringham again looked to the loan market and secured the services of Fleetwood Town frontman Jamille Matt on a two-month arrangement.

Matt arrived at the Lamex at a time when Chesterfield striker Arnand Gnanduillet was still on the books - and indeed proving a success. It was just that goals were still proving a bit tough to come by at the wrong end of the table.

In Matt, Boro' had taken on a forward who missed the entire 2014-5 campaign as a result of injury. But Fleetwood still held bright hopes for him, offering the Jamaican striker a new contract in May 2015 to keep him at Highbury.

In fact, Fleetwood had broken their club record transfer fee to bring Matt in from Kidderminster Harriers. At Kiddy, Matt scored on a regular basis, even if he'd had to take a period of leave due to work permit issues in mid-2012.

Prior to his time at Aggborough, Matt first made his name in English football with Sutton Coldfield Town after moving from his native Jamaica. And working his way up the ladder, the Football League beckoned for the forward.

Arriving at the Lamex, the relatively young striker had plenty of time on his side - and a point to prove. After shrugging off his injury concerns, Boro' offered a stage on which Matt could get back to doing what he does best: score.
