Lee Cox was the last of a trio of loan signings unveiled at the end of November 2015, with boss Teddy Sheringham looking to add some strength in depth to the Boro' squad ahead of the festive period.

A native of Leicester, the midfielder started out his career with his home town club and was a member of the Premier Academy League-winning side of 2006-7. He turned pro in May 2008.

But chances were at a premium with the Foxes and he went out to Yeovil Town on loan in January 2009 - but didn't feature during his time there. After Leicester let him go, Cox moved north of the border.

He started to rebuild his career with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and won promotion to the Scottish Premier League in his first season. It wasn't long before a move back to the English league called out.

Swindon Town was the team to bring him back from Scotland, but didn't make huge use of his services. The midfielder joined Oxford on loan for the first half of the 2012-3 campaign.

Cox returned to Swindon after the two clubs failed to agree terms on a loan extension. A month later, he went to Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the campaign - but was restricted to two months' action.

Torn shoulder ligaments forced the midfielder out of action for six months, before being deemed surplus to requirements at Swindon. He returned to Plymouth in May 2014 - but this time, it was permanent.

After returning to Plymouth shortly before Boro' played, well, Plymouth in January 2016, Cox was back at Boro' to resume his loan spell. And soon after that, his stay at the Lamex was made permanent.

Cox was released in summer 2016, having not been seen in action for some time before hand - injuries not helping his cause when other midfielders in the squad were strengthening their claims to first team places.
