Irish winger Jake Mulraney was snapped up on loan by Stevenage manager Darren Sarll in March 2016, with the Hertfordshire club looking for the inspiration that would drag them away from the wrong end of table and safeguard their League Two status.

A native of Dublin, Mulraney started his footballing career at local side Crumlin United before making the big switch to English football after he was signed by Nottingham Forest as a 16-year-old. Nothing became of his time at the City Ground, however, and he was released in 2014.

But that wasn't the end of the story by any stretch, as Mulraney moved down south to join QPR on an 18-month deal. With first team opportunities not immediately forthcoming at Loftus Road, the winger had his first taste of senior action at Dagenham and Redbridge in a one-month loan deal in October 2015.

It was, ironically, against Stevenage that he made his debut for the Daggers, going onto make a handful of appearances in his time at the club. Boro' were his next port of call, with Sarll looking at the player's pace and athleticism as an asset to be unleashed on the League Two circuit.

In addition to his domestic career, Mulraney also arrived at Boro' with outings at both U17 and U19 levels for the Republic of Ireland.
