With the goals drying up for Stevenage in March 2016, manager Darren Sarll turned to the loan market once again and drafted in Hull City striker Greg Luer. Boro's poor run of form during that time had increased relegation fears and the addition of another forward was an attempt to arrest that.

Brighton-born Luer began his footballing career on the south coast with local side Hove Rivervale, before the step up the ladder with moves to Whitehawk and then Eastbourne Borough. It was during his stay at Burgess Hill Town, however, that the striker was noticed by the Tigers.

Hull snapped up the services of Luer in January 2015, but loaned him out almost straight away - Port Vale to be the club that would give him a Football League debut. With just two outings at Vale Park, Luer returned to Hull having not been able to make a firm impression during his temporary stay.

A Hull debut followed on the opening day of the 2015-6 campaign, with his first Tigers goal coming soon after. First team chances were still at a premium though, and he made the short move to Scunthorpe United on loan in February. And despite reports the club wanted to extend that arrangement, he returned to Hull after a month.
