Boro's sixth signing of summer 2017, Blair Turgott was snapped up by manager Darren Sarll ahead of the club's pre-season campaign. A highly-rated winger, Turgott became the second new arrival of the summer after Danny Newton to have passed through Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy.

For a 23-year-old, Turgott wasn't short on experience. It's perhaps no surprise, either. He first joined West Ham United at the tender age of eight, becoming a youth and development squad player. His first team debut for the Hammers came in January 2014, but it would be his first and only one he'd make before being released in 2015.

Turgott's time at the Hammers did yield some more first team chances by way of four loan spells, however. Bradford, Colchester, Rotherham and Dagenham & Redbridge all benefited from his talents, but it was Coventry City who secured his services after leaving Upton Park in February 2015.

The deal that took him to the Ricoh was a short-term one, and it only lasted until the end of the 2014-5 campaign. At that point, the Sky Blues decided to release him. Their loss was to be Leyton Orient's gain, taking advantage of Turgott's free status.

Turgott didn't have to wait long for his first goal for the Os either, and you could say it was a bit of a stunner too. Sadly, it came against Boro' at Brisbane Road; 18-yard, first-time volley or not. Again, the end of his one-year deal at the East London club, he was on the move again. This time, to his native Bromley from where Boro' would sign him.

It won't go down as our most successful signing, mind. After making just one substitute appearance in a League Cup defeat at Millwall, Turgott went to Boreham Wood on loan. And that loan move then became permanent in the January 2018 transfer window ending an all-too-brief Boro' career.
