Boro' boss Darren Sarll cut it fine in signing defender Kevin Lokko; the 21-year-old arriving just days before the start of the 2016-7 season. It was a, however, deal that zipped through after Boro' triggered a release clause in the player's Maidstone United contract for an undisclosed fee.
But, yes, there was no hanging around on Boro's part. Kent Online reports how Lokko was training with the Stones on the Monday. By Wednesday evening, he was in the red and white of Boro'. It wasn't quite the Craig David-esque experience, if we're in need of being honest. Yet, it was rapid enough in the now-drawn out world of football transferring and that.
Maidstone's loss is Boro's gain, that much is true. The defender is able to play right across the back line. And it provided us much greater strength as Sarll sought to mastermind a return to League One after three seasons' exile. With a handful of goals during his time in the National League too, it should prove another useful string to his bow.
Prior to his time in Kent, Lokko turned out for Welling United and had a spell in the League at Colchester United. He didn't, however, feature in the time spent with the Us; a club he moved to after graduating from Norwich's academy.
